Become an Instructor with Writers.com
writers.com is looking for instructors in all genres of creative writing. If you’re passionate about writing, love to teach, and want to make a difference in the lives of other writers, we’d be happy to meet you!
Requirements for Teaching with Us
We hold all of our instructors to a certain level of education and experience. As such, we will only respond to inquiries from writers with the following:
- A graduate level degree in English or Creative Writing (M.A., M.F.A., Ph.D., etc.).
- At least one traditionally published book, chapbook, or manuscript.
- Reputable publications in literary journals, magazines, or newspapers.
Additionally, we will likely give preference to instructors with the following:
- A flexible, ongoing teaching schedule.
- A positive social media presence.
- A willingness to teach Zoom-based workshops.
All genres are welcome, including writers of poetry, literary fiction, genre fiction, creative nonfiction, screenwriting, lifestyle writing, journalism, and hybrid work.
How Teaching with Writers.com Works
If we’re excited about your work and teaching abilities, the first thing we’ll have you teach is a one-day workshop. This workshop can be about any topic and run for any length, so long as the workshop teaches its attendees new writing skills.
Your workshop will:
- Be conducted over Zoom.
- Run for at least 60 minutes in length.
- Teach an important skill in creative writing. This can include topics related to publishing, marketing, and the writing industry as a whole.
- Make use of writing prompts or exercises.
- Include a group workshopping section or Q&A, depending on the topic.
We’ll work with you to determine a good price for your workshop. Workshop instructors receive a 60% cut of each student’s enrollment.
